Mike interviewed me for a lectureship back in 1995. He made possible the start of my academic career and always supported and encouraged my endeavours, he was never short of giving me sound 'advice'. A true gentlemen, a phenomenal scholar and a much respected colleague.
I was fortunate to enjoy Mike's company on some lovely walks. He was always so interesting and positive and we will miss him. I am glad Dorothy House were able to help the family at the crucial time as they have to other friends of mine.
We were neighbours of Mike and Doreen for many years. We valued his wry humour and extensive knowledge. Our contribution is to HASAG especially as we had a close friend, like Mike an engineer who worked on ships, who suffered mesothelioma. Our condolences to Doreen and the family.
